Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Simon Corbell, today reminded Canberrans about what preparations can be done around the home to be ready for the threat of bushfires over summer.
The reminder comes ahead of the ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) annual bushfire season community awareness campaign.
"The presence of grass fuel across the landscape as a result of prolonged wet weather in the Territory means there is a significant risk to the Canberra community in the months ahead," Mr Corbell said.
"The seasonal outlook indicates that there will be average rainfall over the summer period, however daytime and night time temperatures will be higher than normal," he said.
