The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) Jerrabomberra Brigade will tonight, Thursday 15 November, 2012, conduct a hazard reduction burn, weather permitting, from 7.00pm until 10.00pm at the Jerrabomberra Rural Fire Service station, Jerrabomberra Ave Symonston.
Two heavy tankers, one medium tanker, one light unit and 20 personnel will conduct the burn of approx 0.1 hectares in size.
The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is L13.
The purpose of the burn is to conduct fire fighter training.
Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
