The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) hazard reduction burn tonight at the Gungahlin Eucalypt Plantation has been postponed.
The ACTRFS Molonglo Brigade will still conduct a hazard reduction burn at the Belconnen Pony Club, Parkwood Road, Macgregor, tonight, Wednesday 28 November, 2012 from 5pm to 11pm, weather permitting.
Two heavy tankers, two medium tankers, one command vehicle and 15 personnel will conduct the burn of four medium sized piles.
The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is I10.
The purpose of the burn is to remove a fuel hazard.
Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
