The ACT Territory and Municipal Services Directorate (TAMS) will tomorrow, Tuesday 18 June, 2013, weather permitting, conduct a controlled burn at Kowen Forest.
The burn will be approximately 118 hectares in size and consists of forest debris piles which may take up to a week to complete.
The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is O12.
Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burn in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
