The ACT Rural Fire Service will conduct a hazard reduction burn, weather permitting, tomorrow, Sunday 21 September, 2014 at Vicars Street, Mitchell.
The burn is expected to commence from 9.30am till 5pm.
Thirty firefighters, five fire tankers and three command vehicles will conduct the burn of approximately 2.5 hectares.
Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burn in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
