The ACT Territory and Municipal Services Directorate will today, Monday 30 March, 2015, weather permitting, commence a 938 hectare hazard reduction burn, west of the Cotter River. The burn will reduce fire fuel loads in the area and will take three to four days to complete.
A 958 hectare hazard reduction burn will continue at Camelback, north of Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve.
A 380 hectare hazard reduction burn will also continue along the Hardy Range to the east of the Cotter River, Namadgi National Park.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
