Smouldering mattress in Ainslie flat

Black smoke is issuing from a flat on Howe Crescent due to a smouldering mattress.

ACT Fire & Rescue were alerted to the incident just before 10am this morning. One person had self-evacuated.

Firefighters have since conducted investigations throughout the area for smoke spread but have found no further damage.

Ventilation operations are also underway.

The cause is unknown at this stage.

Three pumpers were on scene at the height of the incident.
