Firefighters and contractors with heavy machinary today continue to work together on extinguished the large rubbish pile fire at Pialligo.
The burning pile has now been separated into several smaller piles by four earthmoving machines to allow firefighters to wet down the flames.
Small smoke stacks are being created immediately above the site each time debri is removed from a pile but quickly dissipates.
North westerly winds, up to 25 kilometres per hour, are forercast to develop during lunchtime today sending smoke in a south easterly direction.
ACT Fire & Rescue has four crews and a commander on scene with two units from the ACT Rural Fire Service.
