Firefighters will work throughout the night to extinguish the recycling fire at Pialligo.
It is expected the same level of resources from ACT Fire & Rescue and ACT Rural Fire Service will remain on scene.
There is a risk that fire could spread and crews will closely monitor the situation, particularly the wind direction.
Forecast weather conditions is expected to result in smoke from the fire spreading across the ACT region overnight.
With smoke visible, people are urged to only call Emergency Triple Zero (000) if they see a fire.
ACT Health advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
