Bruce retirement village fire extinguished

A small fire inside a retirement facility in Bruce has been quickly extinguished.

ACT Fire & Rescue was alerted to the incident at the Calvary Retirement Village on Jaegar Corcuit at 4:21pm.

The fire was largely extinguished by an automatic sprinkler system when fire crews arrived.

A total of eight units were evacuated as a pre-caution. No one was injured.

Firefighters are now undertaking atmospheric monitoring inside the affected area.

Damage from the fire was minimal while there is extensive water damage from the sprinkler.
