ACT Fire & Rescue (ACTF&R) invites all Canberrans to visit one of twelve free BBQs happening around the ACT tomorrow from 10am, Saturday 1 September 2018.
ACTF&R Community Fire Unit (CFU) volunteers will be giving away free sausage sandwiches along with bushfire safety information, and advice about how you can join your local CFU.
CFUs are groups of local residents who live near the urban bushland interface across Canberra. They are trained and equipped by ACTF&R firefighters to prepare and protect their homes from the impact of bushfire. There are 50 Community Fire Units in the ACT.
This annual event coincides with the first day of the 2018 bushfire season and with the seasonal outlook indicating a higher than average bushfire risk in the Territory, Canberrans should take the time tomorrow to talk with their local CFU members and start preparing to be #BushfireReady.
CFUs will be active at the following locations:
- Aranda Playing Fields, Bardi Place
- Chapman, Percy Crescent
- Chifley Shops
- Curtin Shops
- Duffy Shops, Burrinjuck Crescent
