ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) will deploy 34 personnel to assist the QLD Fire and Emergency Services (QLDFES) with major bushfires after an official request from the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSWRFS).
The ACT and NSW contingent is expected to depart on a five day deployment this Thursday 29 November, returning Monday 3 December. The ACTRFS deployment will commence operations on the fireground on Friday morning, through to Sunday evening.
ACT Emergency Services Agency positioned an ACT Liaison Officer within the NSW Rural Fire Service on Tuesday morning. The ESA will continue to support QLDFES further into next week should it be required.
Fire conditions in the ACT are forecast to be mild until at least next week and this deployment will not impact on the level of fire protection to Canberra and the surrounding regions.
