Back burning operations have been conducted in the Gibralter Peak area today, and will continue overnight. This is part of a broader containment strategy for the Orroral Valley Fire.
People in the southern suburbs are currently able to see smoke from these operations, and as the sky darkens flames will also be visible from some areas.
There is no threat to ACT properties or suburbs from this operation.
Residents are reminded to only call Triple Zero (000) if you see a new, unattended fire.
