The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds in the ACT region. Damaging winds averaging 55 to 65 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are likely about the western slopes of the southern ranges.
These winds are not currently expected to impact urban areas of the ACT.
Winds are expected to ease around midnight.
If it is safe to do so, the ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) advises the community to:
-Move your car under cover or away from trees
-Take extra precaution when walking outside or driving
-Secure or put away loose items that are outside
-Monitor the conditions, stay up to date with weather warnings through www.bom.gov.au.
Take care and be cautious of the hazardous and unpredictable dangers associated with damaging winds.
If you need support during storms and floods call the ACTSES on 132 500. In a life-threatening emergency call Triple Zero (000).
