Residents in the southern suburbs of Canberra should expect to see active flames and a glow on the horizon this-evening.
These flames are from the Orroral Valley Fire, which continues to burn at a Watch and Act level.
Today, several fire-retardant drops occurred on the south and west sides of Tharwa.
Tonight, fire crews are strengthening containment lines with a planned backburn along the Naas Road on the east side of Mount Tennent.
A retardant line is also being planned for a fire trail between Mount Tennent and Tharwa.
There'll be many fire crews in the area conducting the burn and ensuring the safety of the community.
Please remain alert, not alarmed.
