Storm and Flood Assistance
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the ACT, which is likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rain over the next several hours particularly for the Canberra CBD. Winds are likely to reach 60 – 70 km/h gusting to 100km/h.
The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony..
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the ACT SES on 132 500.
