Quick work by firefighters this afternoon has prevented a fire from spreading beyond a car port in the city.
ACT Fire & Rescue responded to reports of a car fire on the corner of Batman and Gooreen Streets in Braddon after receiving multiple emergency triple zero (000) calls just before 3:30pm.
Fire crews arrived to find two vehicles alight in a carport and quickly extinguished the fire.
A small number of people were temporarily evacuated from a nearby block of flats as a precaution.
ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics assessed three people from the units for minor smoke inhalation but didn't have to take anyone to hospital.
The cause of the fire will be investigated.
The initial estimated damage bill is $30,000.
