The Territory and Municipal Services Directorate (TAMS) ACT Parks are continuing this week to undertake multiple hazard reduction burns, weather permitting.
A six hectare burn will take place in Charnwood, near Florey Drive and Ginninderra Drive from Thursday 24 march to Friday 25 March 2016.
A 10 hectare burn will take place in Gungahlin, at the Mulanggari Grasslands, near Gungahlin Drive on Thursday 24 March 2016.
Crews will continue to monitor the burn sites until smoke has not been visible for 24 hours.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
The ACT Emergency Services Agency requests that people do not ring Emergency Triple Zero (000) for these fires but are urged to report any other new fires that they might identify that are unattended by firefighters.
