INFORMATION UPDATE - SMOKE TO IMPACT CANBERRA

Due to a lack of wind throughout the day, smoke has settled in the Canberra area.

An easterly wind will be making its way across Canberra this evening which is predicted to clear out the smoke haze that is currently visible.

Reduced wind is likely throughout the day tomorrow so we can expect the smoke to settle again from around Midday.

This cycle of low winds and smoke visibility during the day combined with eastern moving winds overnight are predicted to continue into the weekend.

Canberrans are reminded to please call Triple Zero (000) if you see an unattended fire (notably a visible flame or distinct column of smoke), not just because you see or smell smoke. Clear details of the location of the fire will also help us attend to it quickly.

People who are sensitive to smoke, especially those with pre-existing heart and lung conditions, should take extra care during these conditions.
